It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of Katherine “Kay” (Blennerhassett) Robinson a Tau Chapter sister on May 14th. Kay was active in our chapter’s Lunch Bunch LINKS group. There will be no services. Donations may be made to the Humane Society or Gamma Phi Beta Foundation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
Did you know the Alumnae dues ($25) you pay to International Headquarters do not go to the local Denver Alumnae Chapter? Please consider paying the Denver Alumnae Chapter local dues ($30) to support our activities that include social events, Building Strong Girls philanthropy events, Denver Area Panhellenic events, and supporting the three local collegiate chapters (Theta, Beta Rho, and Tau). If you pay local dues of $55, we submit your Alumnae International dues to International Headquarters for you. Please contact Peggy Hutchinson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 303-697-8963 if you have any questions. Thank you to all our DAC Members that have paid their dues this year! PS – After May, we will not send any further dues reminders, but dues for this year will still be accepted until year end on July 31st. DAC Dues form 2014-2015 v3
We hope you can join us on Monday, May 18th at 6:00 pm at the Theta Chapter House, 2233 S Josephine St, Denver, for the Theta Senior Celebration dinner and ceremony where we celebrate and honor the graduating class and welcome them as new Alumnae. You are welcome to attend the Denver Alumnae Chapter Officer Installation and short meeting after the Senior Celebration. GPhis only please. RSVP by May 13 to Ellen Fritzler at email@example.com or 970-380-3164 or Diana Ramos at firstname.lastname@example.org or 720-636-4827.
Join us at our annual work day on Saturday, May 16th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Gates Camp for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver where young girls attend during their own weeks. The camp is in Gates Camp in Ward, Colorado (~45 min from Boulder). We need lots of Gamma Phi Betas, their friends, and families. Husbands, boyfriends, and children are welcome! Great opportunity for school community service hours! We will help the camp prepare for summer, by cleaning and organizing the kitchen, cleaning cabins, and doing a makeover of the archery range by moving hay bales, stone work, and leveling. There are tasks available for all ages and physical abilities. The camp will provide all the tools we need. We plan to have a potluck barbeque for lunch. The alumnae chapter will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages. Participants please bring a side dish or dessert. Contact/RSVP: Leigh Ann Kudloff at email@example.com or 303-986-5073 or Liz Burgess firstname.lastname@example.org or 310-429-5579. A map to the camp will be provided to those that volunteer. Please consider helping at the Gates Camp this year even if you cannot attend for the entire time! Many of the members that usually participate in this event will not be able to help this year, so we need you, your family, and friends! It is fun and the time goes fast when we are working together! We hope you can join us!
As you are spring cleaning, please donate mugs you no longer want or need for the Gates Camp. Last year, we discovered all their mugs are chipped or have broken handles. By May 16th, please bring mugs to other DAC events, drop them off to Kay Wilms at International Headquarters (12737 E. Euclid Drive, Centennial), or contact Leigh Ann Kudloff email@example.com or 303-986-5073 or Liz Burgess at firstname.lastname@example.org or 310-429-5579 to arrange a pick up time.
In addition to manpower, the Gates Camp has a wish list of items they need. If you have any of these items or would like to contribute to the purchase, see the contact information below.
New Items: Ball pumps and needles; Basketballs; Parachutes; Climbing hardware; Street hockey gear (sticks, pucks, goals, goalie gear); Materials for refurbishing the Archery Range; Greenhouse and gardening supplies for planting and hoop houses; Blacksmithing equipment (gas fired forge, anvils, hammers, gloves, goggles and headphones)
Used Items: Area rugs (these would need to fit the motif of camp – i.e. Persians/Orientals and braided rugs); Sports equipment (basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, badminton gear); Material for crafts (leather, feathers, buttons, paints, fabric, tools, etc.)
